Kootenay Lake Cabin
Design Nelson, BC | 2017 | Design | 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom + loft
Project Focus: This lakefront cabin needed to serve multiple functions: a peaceful retreat for visiting family, a vacation rental income source, and temporarily house a family of five during their main residence renovation—all while capturing lake views and maintaining harmony with the surrounding forest setting.
For the Kootenay Lake cabin (Lake House), Cycles Construction worked as both custom home builder and renovation contractor, refining the home design to suit the lakeside setting. Crafted wood details and careful architectural design choices make the cabin feel modern, calm, and timeless.
Our Solution
We designed a compact yet highly functional cabin that maximizes every square foot with thoughtful space planning and a versatile loft area. The design balances privacy within the forest setting while strategically orienting windows and living spaces to frame stunning Kootenay Lake views.
Key Features
The cabin’s modest footprint belies its functional versatility, seamlessly transitioning as needed. The design nestles quietly into the forest environment while ensuring the lakefront location remains the star, creating a true retreat that serves both the owners’ hospitality needs and income goals.
